Job Description
Branch International is a leading AI-based lending fintech with 50M+ downloads across India and Africa, using alternative data to provide financial services to people excluded from the traditional financial sector. As an Android software engineering intern, you will work closely with experienced engineers and make significant contributions to Branch’s products and code base over a 4–6 month period. You will brainstorm, design, code, debug, and ship features serving millions of customers while developing skills necessary for your career.
Key responsibilities include building out functionality for existing and new product lines and platforms such as Lending, Investments, Wallet, Payments, KYC, and customer lifecycle management on the Android platform. You will also integrate with various third-party systems including payment systems, identity providers, and messaging platforms.
Minimum requirements include experience building native Android applications beyond toy projects, ideally with real users or as open-source. You should have a solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, be comfortable with the Android SDK and modern app architecture, and be proficient using Android Studio and the Android SDK. You need a working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies; familiarity with Unix-like systems and common command line utilities; and proficiency in at least one mainstream language such as Java or Kotlin. The role also calls for an entrepreneurial mindset, initiative in solving problems, strong collaboration and communication skills, and enthusiasm for working in a distributed, global team.
Benefits include a mission-driven, fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment, a competitive internship package, a collaborative, transparent and flat company culture, fully remote work with a monthly work-from-home stipend, team meals, virtual social events, in-person meetups, and opportunities to work and interact with a global team.
